Rain: Prior to the start of a scheduled game, ESLL officials, coaches and umpires will make a determination whether or not the game will be canceled due to inclement weather. If the game is canceled, a cancellation message will be sent to the teams and officials affected via the league website schedule. If no weather cancellation is message is posted, coaches and players should report to the field as scheduled.
Once a game has begun, the umpire will make the determination about the continuation of the game. For those games not officiated by an umpire, an ESLL official or coaches will make the determination to delay or cancel the game.
Thunder and Lightning: Prior to the start of a scheduled game, ESLL officials and umpires will make a determination whether or not the game will be canceled due to thunder and/or lightning. Cancellation messages will be sent to the teams and officials affected via the league website schedule. If no weather cancellation message is posted, coaches and players should report to the field as scheduled.
Once a game has begun, at the first flash of lightning or sound of thunder the umpire will immediately stop the game. All players, coaches, and spectators are to move to an area of safety (i.e., a house or motor vehicle) without delay. The umpire will employ a THIRTY minute delay that resets after each flash of lightning or sound of thunder. If conditions do not improve, the game will be canceled. For those ESLL games not officiated by an umpire, an ESLL official or the coaches will make the determination whether to delay or cancel the game.
