GYA Jr Suns & Jr Mercury Basketball Fall 2025

Fall Game Dates: 10/18, 10/25, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/22, 12/6 & 12/13

We are thrilled to launch the 2025/2026 Basketball season with Gilbert Youth Athletics (GYA)! This season, our basketball program is even more exciting with a new partnership with the Jr. Suns & Jr Mercury organization. Participants can also look forward to brand-new uniforms, including both tops and shorts.

PURPOSE: Provide an atmosphere that allows participants to become engaged and grow as individuals and basketball players.

Kinder-2nd will be coed

Basketball league will be 8 games.
Games will be played on an 8 foot rim and use a 27.5 youth size basketball.
Teams will be created by students home school with practice at a neighboring elementary school.
No score will be kept.

3rd/4th Grade

Basketball league will be a 6 games plus tournament (will have a girls league if there is enough participation)
Games will be played on an 10 foot rim at a junior high school and use a 28.5 size basketball.
Teams will be created by students home school with practice at a neighboring elementary school.
Practice will start one or two weeks prior to the first game. Day and time of the week TBD by coach.

5th/6th Grade

Basketball league will be a 6 game season plus tournament (will have a girls league if there is enough participation.)
Games will be played on an 10 foot rim at a junior high school and use a 29.5 full size basketball and 28.5 size for girls.
Teams will be created by students home school with practice at a neighboring elementary/junior high school.
Practice will start one or two weeks prior to the first game. Day and time of the week TBD by coach.

GYA Jr Suns & Jr Mercury Basketball Fall 2025

Welcome to the Jr. Suns and Jr. Mercury Basketball League! Since 1999, Jr. Suns and Jr. Mercury leagues have been providing kids with the opportunity to learn what it takes to win both on and off the court.

These leagues emphasize fun while encouraging fundamental skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, positive adult participation and community involvement.

As a participant in the Jr. Suns program, you receive one complimentary ticket to see the Phoenix Suns or two tickets to see the Phoenix Mercury at PHX Arena. Bring your friends and family with you to watch some of the best athletes in the world perform at the highest level.
