WHAT AGE DIVISION IS MY PLAYER ELIGIBLE FOR?

Your player’s league age is determined by the Little League Baseball® and Little League Softball® Age Charts. The dates for baseball and softball are different, but each determines the division in which your Little Leaguer will play this season. Access the tool via the provided link:

League Age Determination - Little League

TEE BALL

TEE-BALL (CO-ED)  LEAGUE AGES 4-6

***6 year old players can play up in the 'A League' if they have more than 1 year of experience.***


Tee Ball is a developmental league designed to provide an introduction to baseball with a focus on fundamentals, teamwork and fun! No scores kept, no umpires. Parent involvement is very important and extremely helpful.

Each team will need 1- Manager/ Head Coach, 2- Asst Coach, 1 Team Parent. Training is available, as well as a LL Playbook with a full program layout of practice plans. 

  • Team selection is by school and geographical location. 
  • Coach and /or reciprocal buddy requests will be considered, but not guaranteed. 
  • Practices begin mid-March and games begin mid-April. 
  • Tee- Ball will have 2 events per week, one on a weekday and one on a Saturday.
  • Coaches will be in contact with specific team details after teams are assigned.

Provided Equipment: Jersey, Hat; Coach will have extra bats and batting helmets for practices and games.
Additional Equipment/ Uniform Needs: Mitt, cleats, Baseball pants, socks, belt- Coach will share uniform colors.

SOFTBALL

AA SOFTBALL 78ers (COACH AND PLAYER PITCH) LEAGUE AGES 7-8

This division is for players just starting or with one year of experience playing softball.  Coaches will primarily pitch as players focus on development of basic skills. Players will get opportunities to play as many positions and innings as possible.

Each team will need the following volunteer positions: 1- Team Manager, 2- Asst. Coach,  1- Team Parent  and Trained Scorekeepers and Umpires.

  • Team selection is by school and geographical location. 
  • Coach and/or reciprocal buddy requests will be considered, but not guaranteed. 
  • Practices begin early March and games begin end of March/early April.  
  • AA/78ers Softball will have 2-3 events per week with one weeknight and Saturday game during season. 
  • Coaches will be in contact with specific team details after teams are assigned.

Provided Equipment: Jersey, Visor; Coach will have extra bats and batting helmets for practices and games.
Additional Equipment/ Uniform Needs: 
Mitt, cleats, Baseball pants, socks, belt- Coach will share uniform colors.

AAA SOFTBALL (PLAYER PITCH) LEAGUE AGES 9-11
This level is for players with 0-2 years playing softball. Pitching is player pitch only. Players will get opportunities to play as many positions and innings as possible as they focus on developing their skills.

Each team will need the following volunteer positions: 1- Team Manager, 2- Asst. Coach, 1- Team Parent, Umpires and Score Keepers. 

  • At this division, teams are formed based on player abilities as determined at the player assessment.
  • Players must attend Player assessment for draft placement. Exceptions will be managed through player agents.  
  • Teams are then drafted and assembled to be as balanced as possible.
  • No team/coach requests allowed.
  • Practices begin early March and games begin end of March/early April. 
  • AAA Softball will play 2-3 games per week. Coaches will decide if there will be an additional week night practice. 
  • Coaches will be in contact with specific team details after teams are assigned.

MAJORS SOFTBALL - LEAGUE AGES 11-12

This division introduces advanced competitive play, with and increased focus on skills and strategies of the game. This level is for players with 1-3 years experience playing softball.

Each team will need the following volunteer positions: 1-Team Manager, 2- Asst. Coach, 1-Team Parent, Umpires and Score Keepers.  

  • At this division, teams are formed based on player abilities as determined at the player evaluation. 
  • Players must attend player assessments. Exceptions will be managed by player agents.  
  • Teams are then drafted and assembled to be as balanced as possible.
  • No team/coach requests allowed.
  • Practices begin early March and games begin end of March/early April. 
  • Majors Softball will play 2-3 games per week with an additional weekday of practice.

JUNIORS SOFTBALL - LEAGUE AGES 13-14
Juniors softball division plays on a 60 foot diamond with a 43 foot pitching distance.  This level is for players with 1-3 years experience playing softball.

Each team will need the following volunteer positions: 1- Team Manager, 2- Asst. Coach, 1-Team Parent, Umpires and Score Keepers.  

  • At this division, teams are formed based on player abilities as determined at the player evaluation. 
  • Players must attend one of the player evaluation events. Exceptions to be handled by player agent. 
  • Teams are then drafted and assembled to be as balanced as possible.
  • No team/coach requests allowed.
  • Practices begin early March and games begin end of March/early April.
  • Junior softball will play 2-3 games per week with an additional weekday of practice.  
  • Coaches will be in contact with specific team details after teams are formed.

BASEBALL

A BASEBALL (CO-ED, COACH PITCH), LEAGUE AGES 6-7

***6 year old players should have at least 1 year of experience playing T-Ball to play in this division***

The A division is a coach Pitch league designed to foster fundamental growth of young players. There is an increased focus on defensive positions and machine or coach pitching is performed from 40 feet.

Each team will need the following volunteer positions: 1- Team Manager/ Head Coach, 2- Asst. Coach, 1-Team Parent; We are happy to train parents, older siblings, other volunteers to become trained Umpires and Scorekeepers for the future/ start practicing here!

  • Team selection is by school and geographical location.
  • Coach and/or reciprocal buddy requests will be considered, but not guaranteed.
  • Practices begin mid-March and games begin mid-April. 
  • A Baseball will play two games per week, one on a weekday and one on a Saturday.
  • Coaches will be in contact with specific team details after teams are formed.
Provided Equipment: Jersey, Hatach will have extra bats and batting helmets for practices and games.
Additional Equipment/ Uniform Needs:

AA BASEBALL (CO-ED, COACH AND PLAYER PITCH) LEAGUE AGES 7-8

AA is a combination of player and coach pitching with players pitching from 40’-46’. There is an increased focus on throwing the ball with accuracy to a designated target, understanding basic defensive situations, and where to play the ball and batting live pitches.

Each team will need the following volunteer positions: 1- Team Manager/ Head Coach, 2- Asst. Coach, 1-Team Parent, Trained Umpires and Scorekeepers.

  • Team selection is by school and geographical location. 
  • Coach and/or reciprocal buddy requests will be considered, but not guaranteed.
  • Practices begin mid-March and games begin mid-April. 
  • AA Baseball will play two games per week, one on a weekday and one on a Saturday. The coach will decide if there will be an additional weeknight practice. 
  • Coaches will be in contact with specific team details after teams are assigned.

AAA BASEBALL (CO-ED, PLAYER PITCH) LEAGUE AGES 9-11

In the AAA division, there is an increased emphasis on skills, play-making decisions, and teamwork. Players also continue to learn respect for coaches, umpires, and rules of the game. This division is 100% player pitch.

Each team will need the following volunteer positions: 1- Manager/ Head Coach, 2- Asst. Coaches, 1- Team Parent, Trained Umpires and Score Keepers.

  • At this division teams are formed based on player abilities as determined at the player evaluation. Players are highly encouraged to attend one of the player evaluation sessions.
  • Teams are then drafted and assembled to be as balanced as possible. 
  • No team/coach requests allowed.
  • Practices begin early March and games begin early April.  
  • AAA Baseball will have up to 3 events per week- two weekdays, and one on a Saturday (subject to final schedule).
  • Coaches will be in contact with specific team details after teams are formed.

Provided Equipment: Jersey, Hat; Coach will have extra bats and batting helmets for practices and games.
Additional Equipment/ Uniform Needs: 
Mitt, cleats, Baseball pants, socks, belt- Coach will share uniform colors.

MAJORS BASEBALL (CO-ED, PLAYER PITCH) LEAGUE AGES 11-12

The Majors division introduces advance, competitive play. Coaches place an emphasis on refining of all skills learned at previous levels. Scorekeeping, pitch counts, and game scores are all tracked. All league age 12- year old players will be assigned to a Major's team wherever possible.

Each team will need the following volunteer positions: 1-Team Manager/ Head Coach, 2- Asst. Coaches, 1-Team Parent and Trained Umpires and Score Keepers.

  • At this division, teams are formed based on player abilities as determined at the player evaluation. Players are highly encouraged to attend one of the player evaluations. 
  • Teams are then drafted and assembled to be as balanced as possible.
  • No team/coach requests allowed.
  • Practices begin early March and games begin end of March/early April. 
  • Majors Baseball will have up to 3 events per week (games/ practices); typically, two weekdays and one on a Saturday. Subject to final schedule.
  • Coaches will be in contact with specific team details after teams are formed.

50/70 Baseball/Intermediate (CO-ED), LEAGUE AGE 13

50/70 Baseball division utilizes a modified baseball field using a 50 foot pitching distance and 70 foot base path. Players will add more skill and strategy to their game. Base stealing, sliding, and lead offs are allowed at this level. 

*Division subject to a minimum of 36 players* Renton Little League may combine with other area Little Leagues.  This arrangement changes yearly depending on registrations and interest. 

Each team will need the following volunteer positions: 1-Team Manager/ Head Coach, 2- Asst. Coach, 1-Team Parent, Trained Umpires and Score Keeper 

  • At this division, teams are formed based on player abilities as determined at the player evaluation. Players are highly encouraged to attend one of the player evaluations. 
  • Teams are then drafted and assembled to be as balanced as possible.
  • No team/coach requests allowed.
  • Practices begin early March and games begin end of March/early April.
  • 50/70 Baseball will play three games per week; typically two weekdays and one on a Saturday with an additional weekday of practice. 
  • Coaches will be in contact with specific team details after teams are assigned.
