Attendance Policy

Consistent attendance is essential to the success, safety, and overall performance of each cheer squad. Families are strongly encouraged to review and consider this attendance policy prior to registering an athlete in the YYTFC Cheer program.

- Each athlete is permitted a maximum of three (3) unexcused absences from the official start of the season (first practice) through the final scheduled event (Football Game, Showcase or Competition).
- No absences are permitted within fourteen (14) day s of any scheduled event (for competitve cheer).
- An absence occurring within this timeframe will result in the athlete being ineligible to compete at that event and may impact  routine placement and assigned positions.
- All absences must be submitted in writing using the official absentee request forms and emailed to [email protected] AND your athletes squad email address. 
- Notifications provided via text message or group chat will not be accepted as valid documentation.
- All absences due to illness must be submitted in writing to the squad email address. 
- Notifications provided via text message or group chat will not be accepted as valid documentation.
- A physician's note must be provided via email no later than 24 hours after the date of the absence for the absence to be considered excused. 

Excused Absences
The following will be considered excused absences when properly documented: 
- School-related events that directly impact academic performance or grades. This includes band/orchestra and choir concerts. 
- Contagious illness or injury accompanied by a physician's note. All physician notes must be received via email no later than 24 hours after the date of the absence. 
- Athletes experiencing minor illness or non-restrictive injuries are still expected to attend practice with participation modified as appropriate. 
- Death of an immediate family member

 Unexcused Absences
The following will be considered unexcused absences: 
- Non-contagious illness, ie. cold, headache, stuffy nose, etc. 
- Non-graded school activities or events, ie. clubs 
- Birthdays, family gatherings, family celebrations
- Lack of transportation
- Participation in other sports or extracurricular activities
- Vacations 

Failure to comply with the attendance policy may result in removal from routines, loss of competition eligibility, or further disciplinary action as determined by the YYTFC Cheer program.
