Great Soccer Starts Here
AYSO Hyde Park/Kenwood has been a community anchor since 1991. We offer soccer programs to families with children ages 3 to 18. AYSO region 751 is part of the American Youth Soccer Organization, the nation's largest soccer club, with more than 500,000 players across the country. Ours is an all volunteer-run program where children learn to love soccer along side their parents and other special adults.
Season Schedule
The outdoor soccer season consists of two “halves”, Fall and Spring. The Fall season runs early September through the first week of November. We return to the same teams in April and play through mid-June. Each season consists of 8 games, held at Jackson Park (near 63rd St and Lake Shore Drive).
Game times are Saturday mornings on the hour between 9a and 12p for the younger teams and 8a to 12p for the older divisions. Specific team schedules will be posted on the website before the season starts.
We also offer indoor soccer programs in the winter and several summer soccer skills camps.
Training Sessions
Team coaches will lead players in weekly training sessions, in addition to the weekly game. The Under 5 players have a training session on Saturday morning for 30 minutes before the 30-minute match. U6 teams train one day a week for 45-60 minutes and U8 and older teams practice twice a week. The practice fields (for all but U5) are on the Midway Plaisance (59th St) between Kimbark and Blackstone. The coach will call a team meeting at the start of the season so that families can find consensus on practice times that will work best for the squad.
Fees
The outdoor soccer fee is $175 with a discount for siblings at $165. This registration fee includes 16 games (fall and spring), weekly training sessions, a uniform, a basic photo package and a trophy at the end of the year. AYSO registered players are also covered with player insurance.
Watch for the $25 early-bird discount offered May-July. New players who register for open spots in the Spring half, may save $15 with the early registration bonus.
Registration Process
All players must pre-register online, through the National registration system at www.eayso.org. After setting up an account (for new players) and completing the parent and player questions, you must print and return a copy of the registration form in person. Parents also need to complete a volunteer application to sign up for the role they selected during the player registration. We will post to the website the dates/times for Form Turn-In events so you can complete the registration.
After the region receives printed and signed forms and payment, we make team assignments and a coach will contact you with details.
Team Formation
After you complete the online registration AND turn-in the signed registration forms, we make team assignments. Teams are by gender and by age division based on the player’s age as of August 1. For girls we have the following divisions, where “U” stands for Under: U5G, U6G, U8G, U10G and U12/14G. For boys we have U5, U6, U7, U8, U10 and U12/14.
AYSO believes in the benefits of “short-sided” play, where in each age division we intentionally adjust the roster sizes and the number of players on the field to less than the standard 11 v 11, until children reach our oldest age division. This allows players to develop skills progressively. One AYSO Philosophy is BALANCED TEAMS, where we make assignments placing skilled and developing players across the division to foster a fair chance of victory each match.
Everyone Volunteers
The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) brings families together through soccer in nearly 1,000 local leagues. At the regional level, the program is all volunteer run. The important adults in our players’ lives contribute to the program as coaches, referees, field set-up assistants or event coordinators. You and your child will enjoy the sport together. The national resources provide the training and structure to make your volunteer efforts successful and enjoyable. We also require adults to complete a volunteer application. The national headquarters conducts background checks so that all our children can play in a safe environment.
