OSYSA risk management qualifications are valid for 3 years. Even though you do not need to go through the entire OSYSA risk management process each year, NKSA needs a copy of your certificated submitted each year with registration to confirm your status. Follow the OSYSA link on this page, log onto your account a print your certificate. Follow the instructions for "How do I check my Risk Management Status?" If your status is "Expired" or you are a new coach, follow the instruction for "How do I complete my risk management application?" Applications are generally approved in 15 minutes. Some applications cannot be approved without further review and may take 3-7 business days.
Notes on Concussion Training Requirements:
NKSA teams play in leagues and tournaments sanctioned by OSYSA and must comply with their concussion training requirements. All of OSYSA’s member leagues and tournaments are responsible to monitor and track their coaches’ compliance with the concussion training requirements of the Return to Play law. Each coach must receive concussion training and that training must be renewed every three years. Leagues and tournaments must collect and maintain certificates of compliance from the coaches and may ask for evidence of compliance. To comply, coaches may choose training from either the Center for Disease Control (CDC) or the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). Both programs are free of charge. The NFHS requires a user to login but allows leagues to track coaches progress and allows coaches to log in and print their certification should they require a new certificate.
