Minor - Player Pitch - Little League Softball - Girls
The Minors Division of Little League Softball introduces a more competitive and realistic version of the game, while still providing a supportive environment for skill development. In this division, players pitch the entire game, and elements like base stealing and more advanced game strategies come into play. The focus shifts toward applying the fundamentals in real game situations while continuing to develop and refine key softball skills such as pitching, hitting, base running, and fielding.
Players learn how to pitch and hit against live pitching, giving them valuable experience and preparing them for higher levels of competition. Stealing bases is allowed, though some rules may be modified to keep the games fair and fun, such as restrictions on leading off or advancing on passed balls. These modifications are gradually phased out to transition players toward the full rules of the game.
Teams are formed through a draft, and players are assigned positions more consistently based on their abilities, though rotating through different positions may still occur. The Minors Division introduces game strategies like situational hitting, fielding shifts, and more advanced base running, helping players deepen their understanding of the sport.
Games are typically played once or twice a week, along with regular practices scheduled by the coaches. The Minors Division provides a more structured, competitive environment while still emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, and continued development, making it a critical stepping stone toward the Majors Division and beyond.
