WWSO Sport Parent Code of Conduct
Parent Guide to Little League Child Protection
Responsible Sports
Responsible Sports is a cooperation between the Positive Coaching Alliance and Liberty Mutual Insurance. There is great information there for both parents and coaches.
Highlights for Parents
- Focus on achieving goals, not winning games
- Focus on effort and hard work, not results and not talent
- The player can control effort, they can't control outcome or "talent".
- Avoid the post-game talk in the car Focus on Life Lessons
- Ask open questions like "What did you think of the game?" and respect their decision to either discuss or not discuss the game
- 5:1 Ratio of praise to criticism
- Make the praise truthful and specific, not just "good job."
The Little League Parent/Volunteer Pledge
Parents and volunteers, please remember why we are all here. We are here for the kids. To not only teach them how to play baseball, but to also teach teamwork and sportsmanship. Please read this pledge and remember it whenever we feel the need to be a positive role model to our kids.
The Little League Parent/Volunteer Pledge
I will teach all children to play fair and do their best.
I will positively support all managers, coaches and players.
I will respect the decisions of the umpires.
I will praise a good effort despite the outcome of the game.
