Leagues
Foundations League
Playing Time: Guaranteed for all athletes.
This is a developmental league focused on learning the game. While only six players can be on the court at any given time, time off the court is never based on skill. Athletes rotate through multiple positions to develop well-rounded volleyball skills, participate in real 6-on-6 game scenarios to build volleyball IQ, and learn perseverance by staying on the court through mistakes and growth moments.
Club Prep League
Playing Time: Guaranteed, but not equal due to volleyball position rules.
Every athlete who registers is placed on a team. This league focuses on learning rotations, understanding volleyball systems, and playing specific positions. Because certain roles—such as liberos—naturally stay on the court more than others like middle blockers, equal playing time is not possible. However, athletes are never benched based on performance or skill; instead, coaches use game situations to build confidence, volleyball IQ, and a strong next-play mindset.
Club Teams
All club teams require tryouts, as governed by RMR (Colorado’s regional volleyball authority). Not all athletes will make a team, and placement is based on overall skill level; playing time expectations then vary based on the specific team level an athlete is placed on.
Gold – Elite Travel Team
Playing Time: Not guaranteed.
Gold is FCA Denver’s most competitive level, and coaches prioritize the lineup that gives the team the best chance to win.
Players have equal training and equal opportunity to earn playing time each week in practice. They do not have equal playing time during games.
Coaches communicate roles and clear areas for improvement so athletes understand what to work on to earn more playing time. While some tournaments may result in limited or no game action, this level also emphasizes a team-first mindset—supporting teammates, preparing consistently, and staying ready when the opportunity comes.
Black – Competitive Travel Team
Playing Time: Guaranteed to appear at least once each tournament day. Playing time is not equal.
Black teams compete at a high level, and playing time varies based on performance in practice and games, as well as the strategic needs of the team.
Players have equal training and equal opportunity to earn playing time each week in practice. They do not have equal playing time during games.
Coaches communicate expectations and roles to help athletes understand how to continue earning more opportunities.
White – Regional Team
Playing Time: Guaranteed to appear at least once each match. Playing time is not equal.
The Regional Team is part of the club’s development-focused competitive pathway, offering athletes a strong environment to build skills, grow confidence, and contribute consistently during matches. Every athlete will appear in each match, and playing time will vary based on practice and game performance. Coaches may make adjustments during matches to support the team’s success, and athletes are often given more opportunities to play through challenging moments before changes are made compared to Gold and Black teams.
