FAQs

Do I have to be a Christian to play at FCA Denver?

No. Anyone is welcome to play here. We want families to know that everything we do is influenced by our relationship with Jesus, and athletes will experience a values‑driven, Christ‑centered culture.

Our coaching philosophy—built on respect, integrity, discipline, and genuine care—benefits every athlete not just christian athletes. It creates a safe, encouraging environment where players learn to compete with excellence, communicate well, lead themselves and others, and grow in character on and off the court.

Why play youth sports?

Sports build character. We believe competitive sports are one of the most meaningful tools for shaping character and preparing young people for life.

Through FCA Denver Volleyball, athletes learn how to:

  • Lead themselves and others
  • Work through adversity
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully
  • Take ownership of their growth
  • Collaborate with different personalities
  • Learn from loss and respond with resilience
  • Develop discipline, commitment, and perseverance

Every practice, game, and season is viewed as an opportunity to grow—not just as an athlete, but as a person.

For club teams, will there be games on Sundays?

Yes. In order to compete in tournaments, our club teams will have Sunday play. Tournament schedules are determined by the RMR (Rocky Mountain Region of USA Volleyball) and are not in our control.

We do commit to not attending tournaments on Easter weekend. Many families attend Saturday services when Sunday play is scheduled. We believe following Jesus extends beyond church walls—our gym is part of our mission field.

What ages do teams travel?

In our program, teams begin traveling at the 14s age level, when most players are entering high school. We recognize that we start travel later than other competitive clubs. We do this because, while we aim to compete at a high level, we also want young athletes to enjoy volleyball, play multiple sports, enjoy family time, and avoid burnout. At these younger ages, we believe that this benefits the athlete more that it hurts them and does not inhibit their chances of playing in college if that is their goal.

Can my child play other sports while playing club volleyball?

Yes. Research consistently shows that multi‑sport athletes experience fewer overuse injuries, develop broader athletic skills, and often perform better in the long run.

Participation in multiple sports is handled on a team‑by‑team basis. If your athlete may have conflicts due to another sport, please talk with our director. We will work together to find the best solution for both your athlete and the team.
