Great Falls Soccer Club

The Great Falls Way

Great Falls Soccer Club is part of Virginia Youth Soccer Association

Our program aims to provide a wholesome, well-organized environment in which we teach soccer skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship, as well as contribute to the general health and social well-being of all participants in accordance with the GFSC bylaws.

Our Little Kickers program is designed for our youngest players (most 3 year olds). Our Big Kickers program is designed for slightly older players (older 3s and 4 year olds), the year before they enter our House league, to prepare them for this transition.

The GFSC House program, or recreational league, is a developmental program designed for players, ages 4 through 19 (birth years 1999 through 2011), who are still developing the technical skills to play soccer or do not have the interest in playing soccer at a highly competitive level.

The GFSC Travel program is for those kids who have sufficient skill and interest to play soccer at more competitive levels.  Tryouts are held for the GFSC travel teams annually in late May through mid June (sometimes in other months of the year if the roster is not full).

We offer league play in the Fall and Spring Seasons and offer training and developmental camps and clinics in the Winter and Summer.  There are opportunities to play soccer 11-12 months of the year (or season by season for recreational players).

House/Recreational and SFL Programs

The House program is divided into different age group divisions, based on birth year and gender.  Our House league covers age group divisions from 2007 to 2011.  The older age group divisions, 1999 to 2006, participate in the Suburban Friendship League (SFL).  In SFL, our GFSC teams compete outside the club with other neighboring soccer clubs. Please see the SFL program tab for more information.

For the 2011 age group, we offer coed divisions since at this age boys and girls are at similar development stages.  We aim to have a girls and a boys division for each age group starting at 2010, provided there are enough participants in the program.  Our recreation program is unique to other programs:  Professional coaches jointly run all House practices with a volunteer coach (most times a parent).  This allows for club players to get exposure to professional player development at an early age and throughout their soccer career with GFSC.

Travel Program

In the Travel program, the emphasis is on team success and developing individual skill to the highest possible level.  GFSC prides itself on hiring dedicated coaches and staff who will provide individual attention and monitoring of player development, which is a luxury that we can offer due to the optimal size of our club.  A player commits to play with a team for an entire year including fall and spring league practice and games, and winter training.  Typically, summer training is required for one week of evening camp and weekly practices.

Great Falls travel teams are registered with the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL) and the Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS), and play other affiliated teams throughout Northern Virginia, District of Columbia, and suburban Maryland.  Great Falls travel teams are also registered with the Old Dominion Soccer League (ODSL).
