What to Wear and Bring

What to Wear and Bring

All House league players are required to wear soccer cleats, soccer socks, and shin guards.  Additionally, all players must wear a Great Falls soccer uniform to games.  Each player should bring a ball and water to every practice.

Please note that in games with referees (9U and older), House league players must abide by the referees' rules, including all rules related to what players may wear.  For example, all jewelry (earrings, watches, etc.) must be removed for games.  Earrings cannot be taped.  Players having splints or casts will be permitted to play with the permission of the referee.  It is recommended that bubble wrap be used to protect the cast or splint for safety purposes.  If, in the opinion of the referee, the splint or cast causes a safety hazard, the player will not be allowed to play.  For players wearing glasses, safety straps are encouraged.

Uniform Purchases

House league players (including Kickers) should purchase their uniforms directly from Sterling Soccer in Sterling, VA (remember to ask for a discount as a GFSC player).  GFSC now uses Puma products.  Players may wear a new solid blue Puma jersey, or they can continue to wear the GFSC Adidas jersey from previous seasons.  For teams with games (not Kickers), if your coach does not have a set of pinnies, then the players will need to purchase a red pinnie.  SFL players should check with their coaches before purchasing their jerseys.

Travel players will coordinate their purchase with their Team Manager.

Other Gear

Players need a soccer ball, soccer cleats and shin guards.  Sterling Soccer often places socks, balls, shin guards and cleats on sale at great prices. Shop in the Summer and Winter for the lowest prices and best sales. They also have a Black Friday sale.  If you find something that is not sale, be sure to mention us for a discount.

Firm Ground cleats are a good bet for Recreational Soccer since most practices and games are on natural grass.  Travel players sometimes find they need Firm Ground and indoor shoes for winter training.  Turf shoes are a good option if players find that their feet hurt after practice on turf, though many players find that playing in firm ground cleats is fine.
