What is Recreational House Soccer?

The House league is a recreational soccer program designed to provide a balanced, fun environment for the player who desires to learn the game, advance ball control skills, and participate in small-sided games against other neighborhood teams.

We actively encourage parents to volunteer to coach a team or to act as an assistant coach.  No prior coaching experience or soccer knowledge is required.  GFSC provides training to all our coaches.

Practice and Game Schedules

All House league 6U-10U teams practice one night a week, have Academy training one night a week (Academy is optional, but encouraged), and play games each weekend during the Fall and Spring soccer seasons.  Our practice and game schedules are set by coach availability so we do not generally know practice schedules until teams are formed in mid to late August (for the fall) or mid to late March (for the spring).  Generally teams practice weeknights at 5:00pm or 6:00pm for an hour.

The 6U-8U teams have games on Saturdays, and the 9U-10U teams have games on Saturdays (all day) and Sundays (in the afternoon).  Specific dates of games for the current season can be found on the Game Schedule page.

Player Groupings

Since Fall 2016, players are grouped by birth year under the Age Group Mandate.

House league teams are formed for the 6U through 18U age groups.  The 6U group is coed, with boys and girls participation.  Players in 7U and older age groups may play on either an all-girls team or an all-boys team.  For girls, the 7U and 8U age groups are combined (into the 7/8U girls), and the 9U and 10U age groups are combined (into the 9/10U girls).  Both age groups are represented on every team.  Recreational players who are in the 11U-19U age groups play in the Suburban Friendship League (SFL) and should see our SFL page for additional information.

Our Registration software places players by birthdate.

  • Players will be grouped by birth year.  Children will not be allowed to “play up” in the House league to an older age group.
  • Players cannot “play down” unless they have approval from the Vice President of Recreational Leagues & SFL, and there are exceptional circumstances (i.e., developmental delays, significant medical issues, etc.).

Uniform/Equipment

All House league players are required to wear a Great Falls Soccer jersey, black shorts, and blue soccer socks.  These items can be purchased at Sterling Soccer (off Route 7 at the Shopper’s Food Warehouse location).  GFSC is now using Puma products.  House players may wear a new solid blue Puma jersey, or they can continue to wear the GFSC Adidas jersey from previous seasons.  Cleats and shin guards are also required and can be purchased at Sterling Soccer (with the GFSC discount) or any sporting goods store.  All players must bring a ball and a water bottle.  The 6U-8U players use a size 3 ball, while 9U-10U players need a size 4 ball.

Questions

Any questions regarding the House league should be addressed to the Age Group Coordinator for your player’s age group, the Vice President of Recreational Leagues & SFL, or to the Club Administrator.  Find contact information on the Contact Us page.
