Please consider signing up to be a volunteer head coach for your child's team.
There will be a coaches clinic prior to the start of the season. This year we will be
using JR NBA training plans as the basis for our instruction.
2025/26 Season details are subject to change depending on gym availability and number of volunteer coaches that sign up.
1st and 2nd Grade BOYS Rec Program
- 1st and 2nd graders: Saturdays from 9am – 10:30am at Robert Hunter
- Session dates: 11/1, 11/15, 11/22, 12/6, 12/13, 12/20, 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/3, 2/7, 2/14, 2/21, 2/28
1st through 3rd Grade GIRLS Rec Program (NEW!)
All 3 grades: Saturdays from 11am – 12pm at Robert Hunter
Session dates: 11/1, 11/15, 11/22, 12/6, 12/13, 12/20, 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, 1/3, 2/7, 2/14, 2/21, 2/28
Instruction: Professional Basketball Trainer leading the session; parent/volunteer assistant coaches are needed!
There are no weekday practices at this level. The JR NBA Rookie Practice Plans will be the basis of the instruction provided for the season. The hour-long session will primarily be drills and teaching the basics of the game. The last 15 minutes will be reserved for scrimmages played in a 3v3 half court format with 4v4 opportunities if appropriate.

4th – 8th Grade GIRLS Rec Program Options
FRYB is not able to provide a girls only program after grade 3. Girls starting in 4th grade may choose to play in the FRYB league, as it is coed, although historically predominantly boys. We have contacted local towns that would be happy to have our girls play in their girls league:
Delaware Township: DTAA Basketball offers competition teams for Grades 4-6. They play in the North Hunterdon Basketball League with games scheduled against local townships including Franklin, Clinton, Kingwood, Bethlehem, Del Val, and Union.
In season practices: Practices begin at the end of November. All practices are held at the Delaware Township School gym located at 501 Rosemont Ringoes Rd, Stockton, NJ
Games: Begin on the first Saturday of the New Year through February
DTAA GIRLS Program
Readington Township: Offers competition teams grades 4th – 8th that play in RIB (Recreation Intertown League).
In-season practices: Practices start in December
Games: Begin Friday, January 10th

As soon as coaches are identified teams can be formed and you will be notified. We will be using JR NBA Starter Practice Plans for the basis of our training. Game schedules rotate weekly.

5th/6th Grade - Capacity for 8 teams
- Preseason: Monday 11/10 and 11/17 from 7:30pm – 9pm at JP Case gyms B&C
- In-season practices: Mondays or Wednesday at JP Case from 7:30pm – 9pm
- Games: Saturdays at JP Case, 9:30am or 10:30am

7th/8th Grade - Capacity for 8 teams
- Preseason: Wednesday 11/12 and 11/24 from 7:30pm – 9pm at JP Case gyms B&C
- No in-season practices, this league plays games only
- Games: Saturdays at JP Case, 10:30am or 11am
As soon as coaches are identified teams can be formed and you will be notified. We will be using JR NBA All- Star Practice Plans for the basis of our training. Game schedules rotate weekly.
Cost: $200; Team T-shirt provided
9th/10th Grade & 11th/12th Grade - Capacity for 20 total teams
Virtual draft for coaches only on 11/25 at 8pm (grades 9/10) and 9pm (grades 11/12). All prospective coaches must be registered as volunteers. Priority will go to parents of seniors and then whichever coach registered first. Coaches are allowed to designate one assistant coach whose player will automatically be drafted.
- No in-season practices, this league plays games only
- Games: Sundays 8:30am, 9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am
There will be an end of season one day tournament. Teams will only be eligible for the tournament if they are in good standing with the league, i.e. limited or zero technical fouls.
Please register early as every year we have a waitlist. Please familiarize yourself with our rules which can be found on our website. Pay particular attention to our technical foul rule! Per the HS Basketball coaches, HS team players are not allowed to play rec basketball during the basketball season.
