FLEMINGTON-RARITAN YOUTH BASKETBALL (FRYB)

FRYB Covid-19 Policy

FRYB adheres to the guidelines provided by the State of NJ, Hunterdon County, and the Flemington-Raritan Regional School District where we play. These guidelines can be found here:

HIPPA laws prohibit anyone associated with our organization from sharing any identifying information concerning infected player(s) or coaches with others - that includes teammates. Do not share any identifying information with anyone. All reports of infection and/or exposure should come from the parents directly or the health department. Please respect the confidentiality of our volunteers and participants.

Below is a breakdown of key components:

EXPOSURE
Exposure is defined as being in close contact (within 6 feet for greater than 15 minutes in a 24-hour period) with someone who has Covid-19. The time frame for exposure is 48 hours from the person's first symptoms. That means if the infected person had symptoms on a Wednesday, anyone in close contact the Monday prior is considered to have been exposed.

QUARANTINE

WHO
The below information concerning quarantines comes directly from the FRSD Superintendent and is current as of 1/19/2022
Who does NOT need to quarantine if exposed to COVID-19 (as long as no symptoms exist)?

- Persons who are twelve years old and older who completed a primary series, meaning the vaccine administered as the first dose for 1-dose series and the second dose for 2-dose series, AND have received all recommended vaccine doses, including boosters and additional primary shots for some immunocompromised people, do not need to quarantine.

- Children 5-11 years old who completed their primary series of COVID-19 vaccine, do not need to quarantine.

- Persons who had confirmed COVID-19 within the last 90 days (positive viral test), do not need to quarantine.

Who does need to quarantine, if exposed to COVID-19?

- Persons who are twelve years old or older who completed a primary series, meaning the vaccine administered on the first dose for 1-dose series and the second dose for a 2-dose series but have NOT received a recommended booster when eligible, need to quarantine.

- Persons who are not fully vaccinated (haven’t completed a primary vaccine series), need to quarantine.

HOW LONG
For those who are positive for COVID-19 or have symptoms, the revision allows for a shortened quarantine timeframe. Effective immediately, quarantine can end after day five IF the individual starts out without symptoms.  Start counting on the date of your positive test*, OR on the first day of symptoms. “These guidelines apply to the general community regardless of whether they have received the COVID-19 vaccination.  People with moderate or severe illness, those with weakened immune systems, and people living in high-risk or group settings may need to isolate longer than 5 days.” If symptoms begin within the five days of quarantining, start the count again beginning on day 0.

INFECTED
A player or coach that has tested positive for Covid-19 will be excluded for the duration recommended in the NJ guidelines.

***The easy rule-of-thumb is that if a player cannot attend school for exposure or infection, they cannot attend practice or games***

REPORTING
If you or your child have either tested positive or have been exposed, we ask that you report it directly to your program's coordinator. FRYB will keep the notice confidential and will only use the information to anonymously deal with possible exposure(s).

Coaches and Volunteers, if you are contacted by either the NJ Department of Health or any other Health Department, please refer them to your FRYB contact:

MASKING
Executive Order 251 requires all people within a public facility to be masked at all times, vaccinated and unvaccinated alike. The schools we play in are public facilities and thus everyone, except for those active on the court are legally required to wear mask. While we are not policy police, FRYB does run the risk of being penalized should its participants not adhere to Executive Order 251. This could include fines and even being evicted from using the gyms. Please be responsible and wear masks when and where required.

Thank you,

FRYB
