FRYB TRAVEL

OVERVIEW

The travel program provides a competitive playing experience for the more advanced players in the league. FRYB’s goal is to assemble 2 competitive teams at each age group: boys 4th grade through 8th grade; and girls 4th grade to 8th grade. Each team will consist of approximately 10-12 players. These players are selected following a try-out process in October with teams announced shortly thereafter. There is an incremental fee for participating in the travel program.

The travel program is a major commitment for the player and family. The season starts in October and continues into early March. Teams practice 1-2 times per week and should expect to have 2-3 games per week throughout the season from December through February. Through tournaments and leagues, each team could play approximately 20-40 games, traveling in New Jersey and Pennsylvania; usually within an hours distance. The FRSD and HCRHS gyms will be used for all practices and home games.

Coaches are responsible for communicating all schedules for practices and games with as much notice as possible. In addition, it is the coach’s responsibility to balance the success of the team with reasonably fair playing time for all players. While it is not a requirement that all players play an equal amount of time, FRYB and most leagues have playing time guidelines that must be followed, and it is the coach’s responsibility that all players have an opportunity to play and contribute to the team.; All players are expected to attend all games and practices as scheduled by the team head coach.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

ALL Prospective Travel Basketball Players trying out for Travel Basketball need to register and prior to their Travel tryout. There is no cost to register for Tryouts. If selected, the season cost of $450 will be due upon acceptance. If your child does not make it onto a Travel team, they are more than welcome to register for our Rec League.

We will have teams for boys in 4th-8th grades and girls in 4th-8th grades. Specific dates and times for your age group are posted below. Remember to check the website as the dates approach, in case there are changes to the schedule. If you have further questions, please contact [email protected].

What you need to do:

• Prior to attending the try-out, please complete registration for your child
• Plan to have your child attend at least one of the tryout dates for your age group. We do encourage players to attend both dates if possible.

Anyone interested in being either a Head Coach or Assistant Coach (including coaches from last year who wish to coach again), need to complete the Travel Coaching Application
