Odessa Family YMCA – Youth Sports Parent Code of Conduct
The Odessa Family YMCA is committed to providing a safe, fun, and positive environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive through youth sports. As a parent or guardian, your support and example are vital to the success of your child and the overall experience of every participant. To ensure the best experience for all, we ask that you agree to the following Code of Conduct:
As a Parent/Guardian, I Will:
-
Promote Positive Sportsmanship
Encourage fair play, effort, and good sportsmanship by modeling respectful behavior at all times—toward players, coaches, officials, and other families.
-
Support All Participants
Celebrate effort and improvement over winning. Applaud good plays by all teams and provide encouragement to every child.
-
Respect Coaches and Officials
Allow coaches to coach and referees to officiate. I will refrain from coaching my child or others during games and practices unless I am an official volunteer.
-
Communicate Appropriately
Address questions or concerns calmly and privately with YMCA staff or coaches, never during games or in front of children.
-
Create a Positive Environment
Refrain from negative comments, yelling, or using profanity. I understand that inappropriate language or behavior may result in removal from games or the program.
-
Honor Program Rules and Schedules
Ensure my child attends practices and games on time, notify the coach in advance of absences, and follow all YMCA facility guidelines.
-
Promote Safety and Inclusion
Help maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment for all families, regardless of background or ability.
Violation of This Code May Result In:
-
Verbal warning from YMCA staff or officials
-
Removal from the game or event
-
Suspension or dismissal from the league or YMCA programs
By participating in YMCA Youth Sports, you are agreeing to this Parent Code of Conduct and helping us build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
