Track & Field Registration

Basic Program Information
The ORYA track program will be a true recreational program with little to no direct competition.  Participants will compete against themselves by trying to beat their personal bests.  Two age groups will be offered so participants can be grouped by the general distances their working on.  The program will be offered 2 nights per week. To encourage multi-sport participation we encourage participation on both nights but only require 1 night per week attendance.

Program Schedule
At this time the schedule is unknown.  The high school track will be going through it's first ever season so scheduling and the weather are two big unknowns at this time.  Once the ORHS schedule is set we will announce the dates and times of the program.  If you register prior to knowing the schedule and end up with conflicts on BOTH days we will offer a full refund.

Track & Field Program Information

The ORYA Track & Field program is designed to introduce participants to multiple components of the sport from conditioning, to form running, to participating in age-appropriate track events.  With a strong emphasis on participation over competition, the program aims to teach kids that running can be fun!  Kids of all age, skill and fitness levels can feel comfortable joining this program as we aim at focusing on individual improvement and setting individual goals. Our true aim is to lay the framework for fostering a life-long love affair with exercise and physical activity.

Track & Field Programs

The Fall Track & Field program will feature a greater emphasis on fitness and conditioning, which are the baseline components of any sport. Participants will be encouraged to improve their running form, cardiovascular fitness, and core body strength.

The Winter Track & Field program will focus on building on top of the Fall baseline program with continuing to work on fitness and conditioning. This program will also start to introduce players to more track and field event based skills like standing long jump, shot put (softball throw), and other running events.

The Spring Track & Field program aims to take these fitness baselines and transfer them into actual events.  Athletes will participate in the track & field events such as standing long jump, shot put (softball throw), and running events from 50m to 400m.  Each participant is welcome to join in the inter-squad meet at the end of the season, where athletes will compete against their fellow Oyster River opponents.  Athletes age 9 and up will also have an opportunity to compete against other schools through the Granite State Track & Field meet held in July.

Players are required to have proper footwear, sneakers or running shoes, comfortable running clothing, and a water bottle.
