The Fall Track & Field program will feature a greater emphasis on fitness and conditioning, which are the baseline components of any sport. Participants will be encouraged to improve their running form, cardiovascular fitness, and core body strength.
The Winter Track & Field program will focus on building on top of the Fall baseline program with continuing to work on fitness and conditioning. This program will also start to introduce players to more track and field event based skills like standing long jump, shot put (softball throw), and other running events.
The Spring Track & Field program aims to take these fitness baselines and transfer them into actual events. Athletes will participate in the track & field events such as standing long jump, shot put (softball throw), and running events from 50m to 400m. Each participant is welcome to join in the inter-squad meet at the end of the season, where athletes will compete against their fellow Oyster River opponents. Athletes age 9 and up will also have an opportunity to compete against other schools through the Granite State Track & Field meet held in July.
Players are required to have proper footwear, sneakers or running shoes, comfortable running clothing, and a water bottle.
