Dallas Youth Basketball 2026-2027 Season

Welcome to Dallas Youth Basketball (DYB) registration!
Our program / registration is only open to those Girls and Boys who live in the Dallas School District and who will be in the 1st through 8th grades this August / September.
Dallas Youth Basketball (DYB) is a recreational basketball program that is a NOT FOR PROFIT organization run 100% by volunteers committed to providing boys and girls a SAFE, FUN, and POSITIVE environment supported by GOOD SPORSTMANSHIP to learn and play basketball as well as the importance and value of teamwork, good sportsmanship and responsibility. Our program has provided these opportunities for several decades to the youth who live in the Dallas School District. We generally have over 350 girls and boys participate each season.

WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEER HEAD COACHES and ASSISTANT COACHES EVERY SEASON. Please consider volunteering your time as a coach! You can email us with any questions about coaching at: [email protected]. DYB appreciates all past and current volunteers. However, regardless of previous appointments as a volunteer, DYB IS NOT obligated to appoint any person to a volunteer position. Registering to be a volunteer head or assistant coach does not guarantee selection for that position. Selection depends on: number of teams ; number of returning coaches from the previous season; completion and passing the DYB background check, and board approval.
All registered players are assigned to a team. The only instance in which a player may not be assigned a team is if we DO NOT have enough volunteer HEAD COACHES. In this case, a wait list will be initiated and registered players will be selected on a first come first serve basis based on our ability to get more coaches or if other players drop out.
We DO NOT ALLOW a head coach to select an assistant coach who will have a child playing in the same grade / gender division prior to registration. We do this in order to keep the teams as competitively balanced as possible. If you wish to coach with a specific person with a child in the same grade / gender division then the head coach can attempt to draft that person’s child (if still available at the time of your draft pick / slot) for your team and then can choose that person to be their assistant coach. There are instances where a coach may be allowed to select their assistant coach if the assistant does not have a child playing in the in the same grade / gender division or does not have a child playing at all in DYB. Examples include but are not limited to: spouse, partner, relative, friend, etc.
We DO NOT accommodate requests for players to be assigned with specific coaches nor for players to be placed on the same team as other players. We do this in order to keep the teams as competitively balanced as possible. 3rd/4th, 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade players are drafted.1st/2nd grade players are assigned to teams. EXCEPTION FOR HEAD COACHES only: If your child is playing in the same grade / gender division that you are a HEAD COACH, then that your child will be assigned to the team you are coaching. EXCEPTIONS FOR SIBLINGS PLAYING IN THE SAME DIVISION: Siblings of the same gender who are in the same grade division ARE assigned to the same team unless parents request otherwise.
All registered players in the 3rd/4th, 5th/6th and 7th/8th divisions must attend / participate in a skills assessment in October during which coaches observe players perform a few basketball drills. Dates will be included in your registration confirmation email and posted on our website and Facebook pages. Please note that the 1st/2nd grade divisions DO NOT have a skills assessment session as players will be assigned to teams.
Following the completion of the registration process, you will receive an email confirmation. If you do not receive a confirmation email, the registration process is not complete. Please check your spam or junk folders.
Upon completion of registration you will receive an email explaining skill assessment dates, draft dates and when practices and games begin. Please see our FAQs page for information.
The registration fee or the 3^rd/4^th and 5^th/6^th grade divisions includes a raffle ticket fundraiser fee. The 1st/2nd and 7^th/8^th grade division registration DO NOT include the raffle ticket fee and are not required to sell these for a variety of reasons.
3rd/4th, 5th/6th and 7th/8th Grade Divisions: There are separate divisions for Boys and Girls.
1st/2nd Grade Division: This is a CO-ED division with Boys and Girls mixed on each team.
Please note upon CHECKOUT, the SPORTS CONNECT PLATFORM offers REGISTRATION INSURANCE and GAP MEDICAL INSURANCE for additional costs. Please note THESE ARE NOT OFFERRED nor MANAGED BY DYB. The payments go to a vendor associated with SPORTS CONNECT. DYB DOES NOT process any claims / communicate with these companies if you have a claim. In the event you request a refund, DYB DOES NOT REFUND these payments as we DO NOT receive these payments. All requests for refunds after registration or claims made by you must be managed directly with the vendor offering these services.

IMPORTANT! DURING REGISTRATION:

WHEN SELECTING THE DIVISION FOR YOUR CHILD : THERE MAY BE MORE THAN ONE GRADE / DIVISION TO SELECT FROM. ALWAYS SELECT THE GRADE THAT YOUR CHILD WILL BE IN THIS UPCOMING FALL /WINTER . PLAYERS MUST PLAY IN THEIR GRADE DIVISION.

UNFORTUNATELY, THIS REGISTRATION PLATFORM DOES NOT ALLOWS US TO DESIGNATE "PLAYER GRADE" AS AN OPTION WHEN IT DECIDES WHICH DIVISIONS TO OFFER YOU FOR REGISTRATION. IT USES DATE OF BIRTH AND AS A RESULT WE NEED TO INPUT A WIDE DATE RANGE TO ACCOMMODATE CHILDREN WHO MAY BE YOUNGER OR OLDER IN THEIR GRADE LEVELS.

Refunds: Refunds are generally not available after close of registration. However, we understand there can be extenuating circumstances . DYB will consider all refund requests on a case by case basis. Requests must be emailed to [email protected]. In the event of a refund, we do not refund credit, debit card processing fees, service fees nor additional fees for services or plans offered by Sports Connect paid at initial registration. Please review our website, especially the "DYB FAQs" on our website. It gives a lot of information and should answer most questions.

1. Please review the DYB FAQ and GAME RULES tabs on our website for more information about this division.

2. The 1^st/2^nd grade division is geared towards player skill development and FUN.

3. The 1^st/2^nd grade division is CO-ED.

4. There IS NOT a skills assessment for this division. Players will be randomly assigned to teams trying to ensure competitiveness to the best of our ability

5. Basketball Size: A size 27.5-inch basketball will be used at practices and games.

6. Basket Type and Height: 8 feet.

Please note that PORTABLE BASKETBALL HOOPS will be used because the baskets at Fellowship church do not adjust up or down.

7. All practices and games will be held at:

Fellowship Church located at 45 Hildebrandt Rd, Dallas, PA 18612. Please respect their facility and staff!

8. Practices: will be about skill development and FUN.

9. Practices: will be held one evening per week for 45 minutes.

Tuesdays: 6:00PM to 6:45PM and 7 to 7:45PM
There will be approximately 8-10 practices tentatively beginning 11/17/26 through 2/2/27.
There can be up to 4 teams practicing at the same time.
Each practice will have a “Practice Plan” provided by DYB that will devote at least 30 minutes to skill development only. Coaches must follow these practice plans. The remaining 15 minutes can be devoted to basketball related FUN ACTIVITIES or GAMES.
Example: Practice plan for ball handling, passing, and catching fundamentals for 30 minutes. The remaining 15 minutes are devoted to dribbling or passing contests.
All coaches / teams practicing at the same time will practice together as a GROUP with coaches demonstrating the skill and all players performing the skill / task.
All coaches and teams can break out into their own group for the last 15 minutes of practice.

10. Games: will be held once per week:

Sundays: 2:00PM to 3PM and 3:00PM to 4:00PM
There will be approximately 7 to 8 games tentatively beginning 12/6/26 through 2/7/27.
Coaches WILL BE on the floor with their teams to help. It is strongly recommended that teams have at least 1 head coach and 1 to 2 assistant coaches.

11. Cancelled practices and games will not be rescheduled.

12. There ARE NOT playoff or championship games for this level.

13. Officials:

The goal is to have at least 1 PIAA official per game.
In addition, there may be volunteer high school basketball players, DYB approved adult volunteers if available.
The volunteer coaches will be responsible for this if there are not any other officials (has never happened but be aware just in case because there is a shortage of PIAA officials nationwide)

14. Officiating / Rule Violations / Fouls:

Rules / Violations will not be strictly enforced but rather taught.
First half of the season: Violation such as traveling, double dribble, carrying, hold, illegal use of hands, backcourt violation, will not be called unless extreme. Play will be stopped for repeated violations, education will occur / given by the coaches / officials, and play will resume with the team keeping the ball and inbounding again.
Second half of the season: Violations will result in education and ball turned over to opponent.

15. Fouls:

ARE NOT counted.
Players DO NOT foul out. However, it is the discretion of DYB, coaches, officials, etc. to remove a player from a game if demonstrating unsafe / unsportsmanlike behavior.
The BONUS foul shot / free throw rule IS NOT USED at this level
