How do I become a Buddy for our DYB Challenger League?
Thank you for wanting to be a part of our DYB Challenger Buddy Program! We’re all about making friends!
Dallas Youth Basketball Challenger is always looking for buddy volunteers. We need buddies to assist our players who have physical and/or developmental disabilities as they play basketball together and HAVE FUN! The role of a Challenger Buddy during game play is to protect the Challenger player and to assist in any way necessary. You or your team will be in charge of assisting players while playing on the basketball and helping them with the fundamentals of shooting, passing dribbling and good sportsmanship. It is important to remember that each Challenger player will need a different level of assistance and may face unique challenges while participating. The most important thing a buddy can do is talk to our players and make friends!
The programs and activities offered by our DYB Challenger League are entirely dependent upon volunteers and cannot take place without them. We ask that you and your family members volunteer so that we can keep the programs, events and activities running.
NOTE: In most instances, this program can be used toward required community service projects in schools.
