2021 Board Elections this Wednesday,10/21/2020

Thank you to all the Team Parents, Assistants, Coaches, Mangers and Board Members for their effort and enthusiasm throughout this unprecedented year!  We especially want to thank all of our sponsors for their assistance and dedication to the little league program.

As you know, our League is run solely on the volunteer efforts of our Board, coaches and volunteers.  Multiple board members have duplicate roles, and we need additional volunteers to help for the upcoming year.  All Board positions are open for nomination and election each year.  If you’re going to be in baseball or softball for the next few years, we want your help!  Please consider volunteering with the League in any way that you can by attending our next meeting.

On Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm the CALL Board will hold a “Annual Meeting of the Members” per Section 6 of the of the Calvert American Little League Constitution.  The meeting will take place at:

All Regular Members of the league are entitled to vote at the Annual Meeting of the Members.  

Regular Members of the league automatically include all current Managers, Coaches, Volunteer Umpires, Board Members, Officers of the Board, and any other person who is recognized by the Board as a volunteer in the Local League, including the following volunteers titles listed below:

Recommended Positions: Team parent, Equipment Manager, Coaching Coordinator, Sponsorship/Fundraisers Manager, Information Officer, Groundskeepers, Concessions Manager, Umpire-In-Chief etc... 

The purpose of this meeting is to elect new Members, electing the Board of Directors, receiving reports, reviewing the Constitution, appointing committees, and for the transition of such business as may properly come before the meeting such as:

1.   Review of the condition of the league: The League President or designate shall present the overall condition of the league. This will include the updates on all property and/or equipment owned by the local league. The status of any completed, ongoing, or future projects the league has planned should also be discussed.

2.   Financial report for the league: A financial report should include a general summary of funds received and expended by the local league for the previous year, the amount of funds currently in possession of the local league, and the name of the financial institution in which such funds are maintained. This should be prepared by the League Treasurer with the assistance of the league’s Audit Committee.

3.   Review of membership: The list of persons who have been admitted to regular membership in the local league during the year, as defined by your league’s constitution, should be reviewed and recorded at the annual meeting. This updated list of members will help in establishing what is required for a quorum.

4.   Review the league’s constitution and bylaws and revise if needed: Each year, the Board of Directors should review the league’s constitution and bylaws. In most years, the constitution will not be changed, while bylaws are more likely to be amended year to year. The Board of Directors of the league must amend and approve any changes made before they can be adopted. If changes are made that impact the operation of the league in such a way that the general membership needs to be informed, do so in a clear and comprehensive manner.

5.   Election for members of the board of directors: Each year, the members should determine the number of Directors to be elected for the ensuing year and elect such number of Directors (there should not be less than seven). Once the Directors have been elected, they will meet to elect Officers of the Board.

Due to several members of the board taking a step back we are in great need of members who have an interest in the operations of the softball side of the league.  We really need some volunteers to keep that program going.  If we do not get the volunteers the league may have to considering not offering the softball division.
