Registration for Spring 2019Baseball and Softball is Open!
It’s almost spring! When 100,000’s of thousands of people miraculously calls in sick at 8:30 on the same day. You feel a little guilty, but who are we kidding. You’re sitting at your favorite park, with your favorite drink. The smell of fresh cut grass and fresh air. The sounds of the crack of the ball hitting the glove and bat. That’s right the day of leave was well worth it. It’s Opening Day.
The CCALL Board has implemented several changes. This email is to provide transparency of those changes and the board.
First and foremost, we always are looking for sponsors. If you or your company is interested in becoming a sponsor of the league the please let us know. The sponsorship rates are as follows:
•
$300 (Challenger Division)
•
$275 (Challenger Buddies)
•
$300 (Junior/Seniors)
•
$250 (Minors/Majors)
•
$325 (Machine Pitch/Ponytail/T-Ball)
Change No. 1:
The board has implemented head coach interviews. Every manager, whether returning or new is required to go through an interview process. If you are interested in being a manager, please contact the coach’s coordinator for both baseball and softball at the following:
[email protected]
This is to establish a base line of what is expected of the coach. It also allows us to institute a checks and balances approach as to whom we deem are suitable coaches and etc. Just because you coached for CCALL in previous years does not guarantee you a spot to manage again this year. When making determinations for coaching, we consider player, parent and board feedback from our Spring 2018 survey. Currently with the coaches that have applied to be a manage we have enough coaches for the following number of teams:
•
Baseball
o
Majors (4)
o
Minors (6)
o
Machine Pitch (12)
o
TBall (10)
o
Seniors (3)
•
Softball
o
To be determined
As noted above we need t-ball managers. We only have enough managers for 10 total teams and at this time that is all the players we will be able to register. All players past that number will be placed on a wait list. If more managers submit their request to manage (if you already submitted there is no need to resubmit we have your information) we can add to the team list.
Change No. 2:
The board has implemented mandatory coaches training for all coaches. Coaches will be required to take a short online (2.5 hour) course and take an exam online through the National Alliance of for Youth Sports (nays.org). We believe this is in the best interest of the children and will assist in creating a well-rounded coaching staff. Training will cover the following:
•
What It Means To Be A Coach
•
Youth Sports Violence
•
Conducting Practices
•
Game Day
•
Injury Prevention
•
Nutrition and Hydration
•
Code Of Ethics
Selected coaches will receive an email with the registration process.
Change No. 3:
The league has setup a fundraising committee to establish fund raising opportunities and ideas. If you have any ideas or would like to assist this committee, please contact them at
[email protected]
regarding opportunities.
Change No. 4:
The board has brought the draft procedure in line with Little League operating rules. CCALL BOD is going with the following procedure for the drafts for minors and up (T-ball, Pony Tail and Machine Pitch will be similar but will be more based on kids’ locations and such.):
Complete redraft of the team. The only player drafted is the manager's son or daughter. If they want an assistant, they must on their own select them in the early rounds they will not automatically be picked. If the manager decides that a player is more important than an assistant coach, then it is on them if that assistance coaches’ kid is picked by another team.
Lastly if a player does not show for evaluations the managers, board and some coaches will meet at the end of evaluations that same day and grade players they know from past seasons. If no one can verify or speak for a player these players will be blind drawn after all the rated players are drafted.
Change No. 5:
For age groups minors and up there will be no special requests for carpooling etc. Siblings will still be placed on the same teams. Once teams are announced there will be no moving of players from team to team for all divisions and there will be no refunds issued after teams are announced.
Lastly, REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! Register prior to midnight of February 22, 2019 to avoid a $25.00 LATE FEE. Registration will close March 2, 2019 at midnight or sooner if teams fill up prior to that date.
NOTE: You may see some divisions with a button next to the description. This means that the division has filled available player positions, but we expect some to open up (if an additional coach signs up to manage a team, a registered player has to cancel, etc.) -- this frequently happens. If you would like to be considered for an opening, please go ahead and register! You will NOT be charged a fee by registering on the wait list. if a position opens, you will receive an email indicating you have been moved from the wait list and you will then be required to complete the final registration steps with payment.
