Baseball - 15-20 - 2025

15-20 Baseball Forest Hill's 15-20 Spring Baseball program plays in the Harford County Travel Baseball League.  This division is for players who are at least 15 years old and no more than 20 years old as of April 30.  This level is real baseball played on a professional-sized 90’ diamond, complete with 80 mph fastballs and breaking balls that drop off the table.  This age plays games against other Harford Rec Council baseball programs.   The season runs from mid-May into July to accommodate players that also play on their high school teams, with the Championship and All-Star games scheduled for mid-July.  Forest Hill can field up to 2 teams that play their home games on Field 4 at the Forest Hill Rec Complex on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from mid-May into July.  Teams are selected via competitive tryouts held in March/April of each year.    Registration for 15-19 Baseball tryouts starts on January 1 of each year.  Players can sign up at the walk-in registration sessions or through the mail by downloading a registration form.  The playing fee is required at registration, but checks will not be cashed until after team selections are finalized.  Players not making a 15-20 team will be reimbursed in full.  Cost is evaluated yearly and pays for uniforms, equipment and umpire fees.  An additional fee may be required based on expenses.  For information, contact the 15-20 Baseball Program Director.   For 15-20 High School Baseball, all bats must carry a BBCOR certification and must have the BBCOR Stamp of Certification. Older BESR and non-certified bats are illegal for use.  Bats used in 15-20 baseball must conform to a -3 weight to length ratio, meaning their weight in ounces can not be more than 3 ounces lighter than the length in inches.  In other words, 30" bats must be 27 oz, 31" bats must be 28 oz and 32" must be 29 oz.  Lighter bats cannot be used.

Registration for tryouts for our High School League teams will occur in January - February. Teams are finalized in March (whenever it warms up and we can get outside) if necessary.

Team selections for ages 15-20 is sometimes done by competitive tryout if we have a lot of registrations.  In that case, we select teams based on tryouts at this level for several important reasons:  First, the safety factor....  We want to make sure that our players have enough skill and baseball knowledge to avoid being injured.  Second, teams in this league has always been rather competitive and are usually composed of JV and Varsity players from the area high schools.  So in order to compete in this league, we have to make sure that our players can handle the competition and have parity with the other teams.   Third, it becomes a numbers game when selecting teams....  Everyone surely can understand that if a total of 18 boys register for tryouts, it isn't feasible or fair to put all 18 players on the team.  After selecting a team of 12 or 13 players, there simply aren't enough players to form an additional team.  So what we must do is select the best players for the team and then we recommend the others to nearby rec councils so they can fill up their teams with decent players, too.
