The SYA Fall volleyball program offers many opportunities for girls to be instructed in everything from fundamental skills to advanced team competition. As a feeder program for Smithsburg High girls volleyball, the program is designed to prepare area girls for what they can expect as a part of a premier high school program.

In-House league:
Is designed for middle school girls that want to test their skills in competition, but may never have played before or are not quite ready for the intense competition of the travel league. Girls participating in the house league get quality coaching and instruction, and as part of a team, learn the basics of positions and team play techniques. House league teams are formed with the intent of promoting balanced competition, which allows for more exciting play.
In-House league play provides a rewarding experience that gets competitive juices flowing in a friendly, low-pressure atmosphere. It is ideal for middle school girls who want to hone their skills and enjoy the camaraderie that comes with being part of a team.

Travel League:

This league is highly competitive for girls in grades 6 - 8 with the most advanced skills. The girls compete in a league with teams from around Washington County in the fall, culminating in a championship tournament for the 8th grade team.

Skills Assessment

Skills assessments are conducted in order to identify the level of play most appropriate for each player, and in the case of the in-house league, to balance the teams and promote even competition. Players that display the highest skill levels may be invited to participate on their grade's travel team.

Due to schools not being available for assessments, they will be held in the Ringgold Church of Christ gymnasium. Players, coaches, and evaluators are the only ones permitted in the gym due to limited space. Players need to be dressed and ready to start 15 minutes prior to their assigned time. They will be asked to sign-in and receive a number for identification.

SYA Refund Policy:
Early and accurate registrations are critical for our sports programs to put together teams, for league registrations, to allocate appropriate resources, find coaches, and create schedules. However, we understand that situations sometimes arise that can prevent players from participating so we provide the following refund policy.

To request a refund for a sport registration fee the participant should e-mail the director for that sport.

A $10 administrative fee will be deducted from any refund issued.

If SYA has already incurred costs for that player such as league registration fees those fees will be subtracted from the refund

Late registration fees will not be refunded.

No refunds will be given after June 30th.

Requests must be in writing and made to the director before June 30th
