Just for Fun Art-ventures for Gr. 2-4

Get ready to "create some fun"! Just for Fun Art‐ventures lead children on an imaginary tour through the world's greatest art museums, inspiring creativity through exposure to the FUN‐damentals of artist's tools, techniques and art forms, many inspired by the masters. But don't just admire these great works—decorate your home with masterpieces of your own! Draw Oil Pastel Flowers like O’Keefe, create colorful canvases in the style of Matisse, and design upside down and inside out Watercolor Dream Paintings inspired by Chagall. Sculpt Swirly Clay Pencil Holders, create Burlap Landscape Collages, and decorate Paper Mache Boxes. Creatively educational, whimsical and unconventional, these art‐ventures welcome children into a world of artistic wonder. Children bring home beautiful masterpieces each week, sure to transform any home into a gallery!

Art We There Yet? World Treasures Art-ventures Gr. 2-4

Grab your passport and climb aboard! In this multi-cultural art exploration program, young art travelers jet from continent to continent, and discover amazing art secrets hidden all across the globe. Borrowing from Native American art traditions, craft colorful Shrinky Dink sun catchers and sculpt “All About Me” clay totem poles. Design intricate, eye-catching Mehndi art gloves in India and bold metal embossing masterpieces in Greece. Make Aboriginal clay masks, draw African Elephants, and try a special kind of Italian scratch art, called “sgraffito.” Plus, even create your own Animal T-shirts inspired by Panama Molas (fabric art). Art-venturers experience a multitude of materials and techniques, and bring home 2- and 3-dimensional masterpieces each week as souvenirs from their travels. Fun facts about each country and culture are included. The only thing kids need to pack is their imaginations!

Lions and Tigers and Pigs, Oh My! Art-Ventures Gr. K-1

Animals have been an important subject for artists all over the world since the beginning of time. From ancient caves to the present day these magnificent creatures can be seen in paintings, sculptures, ceramics, mosaic art, fabric design, masks and stained glass. On a wild journey through the animal kingdom, art adventurers discover a multitude of kooky critters--as well as their own creativity--while exploring various techniques, tools, textures and materials. Stained glass giraffes, fabric dogs, ceramic elephants, wooden snakes, colorful dinosaurs, and clay lions with fluffy fiber manes. These are just a few of the animals created during our cool and playful art excursions. Fun facts about each creature are included and masterpieces go home each week. A ROARING good time!

Monsters and Mermaids Fantasy Art-Ventures, Gr. K-1

Pay no attention to that fire-breathing dragon! Wielding paintbrushes, brave art explorers journey into a fairytale kingdom, where fairies flit through rainbow skies and zany zombies roam the streets. Encounter fantastical creatures, both spooky and sweet, while conjuring up bedazzling art: Decorate wicked cool witch or wizard hats and sculpt clay witches or wizards on broomsticks! Design colorful ceramic skulls inspired by Dia De Los Muertos and paint unicorn or dragon banks. Craft monster t-shirts and create sparkling castles on canvases. Make hand puppet mermaids, vampires, fairies, werewolves, or any creature you can imagine. Using some very magical potions and spells (i.e. materials and techniques), art-venturers experience painting, drawing, sculpting, printmaking, ceramics, fabric art, and more. Enchanting two and three dimensional masterpieces are brought home each week. Fun, fantasy-filled art-ventures!

Monday, 12/30 - Sparkly Snowflakes and Magic Mittens
'Tis the season to be jolly -- and also the season to create amazing art! Paint family snowman portraits on stretched canvas, create sparkling beaded snowflakes, sculpt clay snowmen, and design colorful scratch art mittens. Enjoy some wonderful winter fun while keeping cozy and warm!

Tuesday, 12/31 - Watercolor Places and Pencil Cases
Design vibrant painted pencil cases using a special resist technique and learn about one-point perspective while creating watercolor landscape paintings. Plus, learn about symmetry while building a gorgeous macaroni mandala out of color pasta!

Thursday, 1/2 - Zany Zoo Animal Art-ventures
This all new art-rageous program is truly like a trip to the zoo. Color ceramic bunny banks with special paint markers and design wacky stained glass animals with wiggly eyes! Plus create animal clip bookmarks using watercolor paints and draw some surprisingly ferocious fish!

Friday, 1/3 - Fluffy Snowmen and Artsy Icicles
In this awesome art-venture, children will go walkin' in a winter wonderland. Make snowman collages using shaving cream, sculpt glittery clay icicles, paint wooden boxes with a wintery theme, and draw snowy trees with oil pastels and splatter paint. Get ready for some super, seasonal fun!

February School Vacation

Tuesday, 2/18 - Jumpin' Jellyfish Art-ventures
In this underwater art-venture, art explorers experiment with some very weird  materials and textures. Have a blast building shimmering jellyfish sculptures. Discover a unique technique to create dripping  watercolor jellyfish paintings. Then color  beautiful stained glass ocean scenes, perfect to hang in a window. As a final art activity, experience the magical art of diffusion using baby wipes, bright colors and sea animal shapes!

Wednesday, 2/19 - Socks and Sneakers
All you rock stars comes sock n' sole with Art-ventures for Kids! Using vibrant fabric markers create "tie dye" socks and make some sneaker "sole" pendants out of clay. Finally, design some shoes and sneakers while sculpting with color model magic. Wicked cool and totally fun!

Thursday, 2/20 - Wild West Art-ventures
Art-venturers visit the Wild West. Learn about the Indian tribes of the Great Plains while building tepees. Create story necklaces made from clay while exploring the history of daily life and use the native materials for decoration and storytelling.

Friday, 2/21 - Totally Awesome Animal Art
Create ferocious tiger boxes with clay, design colorful animal hand puppets, and draw dressed-up dogs.

April School Vacation

Tuesday, 4/21 - All Aboard! Amazing Art from Around the Globe
Journey across the world in this excellent multi-cultural art-venture! First, travel to Mexico and paint gorgeous wooden animal puzzles in the style of Oaxacan Alebrijes (brightly patterned wood animal sculptures). Then head off to Australia to sculpt clay aboriginal masks using a very cool technique inspired by aboriginal dot art. Finally, land in Africa, where you'll create elephant drawings in watercolor landscapes. All you need to pack is your imagination!

Wednesday, 4/22 - Backyard Fun and Squirrels and Snakes
Create art-inspired by the animals you might find in your own backyard! Paint squirrels on canvas panels and build snakes out of a secret, surprising, sticky material. Plus, sculpt clay cats and paint miniature chairs for them to sit in.

Thursday, 4/23 - Fun Times with Famous Artists
Design wacky costumes inspired by Picasso's portraits, paint fabric wall hangings, create Kandisky-esque geometrical masterpieces and draw beautiful oil pastel cats like Laura Burch. Create really fun 2 and 3-D works of art inspired by masters.

Friday, 4/24 - Out of this World: Outer Space Art-ventures
Paint rocket ship picture frames, design and decorate telescope toys and create alien oil pastel drawings inspired by the book "Aliens Love Underpants."
