Baseball

Baseball is offered for boys in grades 1-8.  Grades 1/2 is coach pitch, grades 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 is kid pitch and they play in the Suburban Baseball League.  We will also offer a competitive tryout team in grades 7/8 that plays in the JLS Baseball League.   See below for additional information.

Due to COVID, there will be specific modifications that will be announced before the program starts in regards to play, required masks and limited spectators.

As we know people are eager to get outside and play some sports this spring, we are allowing them to play any number of our sports this year; however, your attendance at practices will impact playing time.  Please make every effort to communicate your schedule with the coaching staff.  It is unlikely that we will be able to accommodate schedule requests for individual players.  Please note as the kids get older, the number of games and practices increases making playing multiple sports more difficult.

Grades 1-2 Recreation Baseball:

*Games are held in-town and are coach pitch.
*Season runs from the middle of April through the end of June.  If the weather is nice and fields are ready, we might start a little earlier.
*Teams will typically meet 2 times per week.  One weeknight time that is set for the season (coach decides) and a weekend practice and/or game(s).

Grades 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8 Recreation Baseball:

*This division will involve some travel to various Western Mass communities and is kid pitch.
*Play is in the Suburban Baseball League:  https://www.leaguelineup.com/welcome.asp?url=wmasssuburbanbaseball
*The season runs from early April through the end of June. Teams typically meet 2-4 times per week.
*3/4th home games/practices at Center Field and/or Beachgrounds (60 foot diamond).
*5/6th home games/practices at the Woodlawn Field/COA (75 foot diamond).
*7/8th home games/practices at the Beachgrounds Park and/or SHHS (90 foot diamond).

Grade 7/8 Competitive Baseball: The season will start in late April and through the end of July. Teams typically meet 3-5 times per week and play in the JLS baseball league.  This division may require a tryout based on total number of registrations.  This is for the competitive baseball players looking for more competition than in the Suburban League.  Home  games/practices at the Beachgrounds Park and/or SHHS (90 foot diamond).
