When is the pavilion/cabin able to be rented?
For 2025, the rental season will run Saturday, May 17th to Sunday, September 7th. *Due to construction at the park the back pavilion (pavilion 1) will not be available until May 31st - after that date please note there may be areas around the pavilion that are roped/snow fenced off due to the construction, however, the actual pavilion will not be affected.
What are the hours for rentals?
Pavilion hours are 8:30am-6:30pm, however, staff does not arrive until 10am so bathroom facilities will not be available until then. Log Cabin hours are Monday-Friday 9am-6:30pm and Saturday & Sunday 10am-6:30pm.
What is the cost of a rental?
South Hadley Resident/Business
Pavilion - $250 plus a $100 security deposit
Log Cabin - $150 plus a $50 security deposit
Non-Resident/Business
Pavilion - $350 plus a $100 security deposit
Log Cabin - $200 plus a $50 security deposit
How many tables/chairs are in the pavilion & cabin

Are trash bags supplied?
Two trash bags will be provided and the Parks Department will dispose of those two bags. Anything beyond that, is the responsibility of the renting party.
Can I bring a grill?
You may bring a gas grill to use at the pavilion's only and they must remain in the pavilion at all times. Gas grills are not allowed at the cabin, however, there is a charcoal grill located on the backside of the cabin that is available to use during your rental. Please note that you must bring your own charcoal.
Can I have a food truck or caterer come to serve food?
Yes, you can have a food truck or caterer come to serve food. However, the food truck or caterer must be permitted with the Town of South Hadley/Board of Health and have an inspection done at least 30 days prior to the event. We recommend that you double check with your food provider that they are aware of these requirements. If you are serving the food yourself (whether you make it or purchase from a vendor/caterer), a permit is not required.
Is there electricity?
There is electricity available at both the pavilion & log cabin.
Is there a sound system at the log cabin or pavilions?
No, there is no sound system. However, you are allowed to bring one with you as long as the volume does not disturb other patrons/parties using the park.
Is there a fridge or freezer in the log cabin or at the pavilions?
No, there is no fridge or freezer at the log cabin or the pavilions.
Can I set up a bounce house or pop up tent at my event?
No, bounces and tents of any kind are not allowed to be set up at Buttery Brook Park
Does the cabin have air conditioning?
Yes, the cabin does have an air conditioning unit.
Can I set up decorations?
You can set up decorations, however, no decorations can be affixed (with tape or staples) to chairs, tables, walls or windows.
Can I serve alcohol at my event?
Alcohol is allowed as long as the rules below are followed;

- The renter or organization is required to provide proof of adequate Liquor Liability Insurance that names the Town of South Hadley as an insured party for a minimum amount of $250,000 on account of injury to or death of 1 person, and $500,000 on account of any 1 accident resulting in injury to or death of more than 1 person.
- This can be secured by going through your homeowners/renters insurance or a third party site such as Eventsured. The Town does not provide this insurance.
- Proof of liability needs to be sent to the Recreation Department at least 2 weeks before the scheduled event.
- Open alcohol containers must remain within the pavilion area.
Selling to the general public?
- A special alcohol permit (wine and beer only) must be obtained from the South Hadley Selectboard Office.
- In addition to the alcohol permit the renter or organization is required to provide proof of adequate Liquor Liability Insurance that names the Town of South Hadley as an insured party for a minimum amount of $250,000 on account of injury to or death of 1 person, and $500,000 on account of any 1 accident resulting in injury to or death of more than 1 person
