Updates from the Recreation Department

Email Sent 5/4

Good afternoon;

Below is the link to the Google Form for us to start processing your refund, transfer or donation.  Due to the fact we have over 700 individual registrations to process, completing this form is mandatory so we can guarantee accuracy.  We are sending this to all emails on your account, so please make sure there is only one response per participant.

If you are choosing a refund, we have to return these by town check and that takes a few weeks to process from our end.

If you are doing a transfer to a fall sport, we have our normal registration questions on the form and our staff will complete your registration for you.  If there is a balance (fall sport more than spring sport), you can pay that through the Blue Sombrero website and if you are due a refund (if the fall sport is less expensive), we will process that.

If you are choosing to donate your registration fee to the department, thank you very much!

Here is the mandatory link to fill out:

Thanks,

Good afternoon;

Due to Covid-19 and Governor Baker's most recent order, we have officially cancelled all spring sports this season.  This includes Boys and Girls Lacrosse, Baseball, Softball, Tee-Ball and Spring Soccer.

Sometime over the next few weeks, we will be sending out a second email with the option to get a refund, transfer to a fall program or make a donation to the Recreation Department.  There will be a Google Form for you to complete with all of the needed information that you will get in that second email.

Due to the large number of registrations we have in the spring, we will be staggering those emails over the next few weeks for processing purposes.  All refunds will be issued by town check.  If you do not get this email from us by May 22, please email [email protected].

We have not made any decisions on summer programming at this time.  If programs are allowed to take place, we may offer a limited season for the spring sports that we cancelled and/or some option to get together and play informally in late June/July/August.

We wish you and your families the best during these trying times.

Update 3/30

All youth sports have been suspended until a minimum of Monday, May 4th based on the decision of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Association (MIAA).

Email Sent 3/26

Hello;

Due to COVID-19, the South Hadley Recreation Department has suspended all youth sports from starting until a minimum of Monday, April 27 based on the decision of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).  We are also following the directives from the South Hadley Emergency Management Director (EMD) and will adjust based on the protocols set forth by the EMD.  Just yesterday, the Governor extended the school closure until May 3 and I know the MIAA will meet next week to make the necessary adjustments.

Once a decision has been made about a program, we will communicate that out to all participants.  If programs are cancelled, we will offer a refund and/or transfer to a future program.  We are not processing any refunds currently for programs.  Once a decision has been made to cancel a program, we will then move forward with refunds and/or credits to another program.  We may entertain running some of our spring sports in June/July if there is interest.

The Easter Egg Hunt and Hat Parade is cancelled this year.

After School Programs will be restored in schools if/when schools are allowed back in session.  If they are not, we will work with those participants directly for refunds and/or makeups for sessions that were missed.

South Hadley Town Hall is currently closed to the public.  We will be checking emails during normal work hours to answer any questions.

Online registrations will be available for fall sports starting on April 1 and are currently open for many of our summer activities.  Visit www.southhadleyrecreation.org.  If folks want to wait to register for fall programs until they know the status of the spring sports, we would encourage you to wait to register.

The Town’s website has a dedicated page for updates on COVID-19: https://www.southhadley.org/1026/COVID-19-RESPONSE

Thanks, and we wish everyone the best during these difficult times.

Thanks
